John Bellian

John W. Bellian received his Bachelor of Architecture as well as Masters Degree from the University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit Michigan. John’s career of more than twenty-nine years has provided him with a wealth of knowledge and experience in all aspects of the architectural profession. As Registered Architect Certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Board as well as a LEED Accredited Professional, John has dedicated his career to the pursuit of knowledge. John firmly believes that the greatest adventure is the one that is right in front of you “…so keep looking forward, learning all the time from what is behind you, for the day we stop learning is the day we stop living…”

As a Principal. Project Manager, Project Architect, and Designer for many projects in both public and private sectors John has developed an extensive background and experience in Building and Site Design, Contract Documents, Building Inspection and Analysis, and Construction Administration. At this point in his career, he finds his greatest satisfaction in being the ‘coach’, mentoring and encouraging architects and interns to strive to be the best. To that end, John has recently joined the Faculty at the University of Houston School of Architecture, where he teaches Professional Practice to the 4th and 6th year students. John has come to realize and appreciate that he never stops learning and in many cases the best lessons are those he learns from the newest professionals in the field. In today’s competitive world and fragile economy John believes; “…it’s not about gimmicks and tricks, it’s about being smart and understanding how to solve problems. Knowing how to define the objectives, prioritize and analyze the project drivers and develop a creative, economically feasible, environmentally responsible and logically functional solution, to the problem is what being an Architect is all about.”
